AHHH Vacations :-/

Have you ever compared your family vacation to the National Lampoon's "Vacation"? I'm sure many of us have and it's never as funny as the actual movie but we had ours this past week. Starting off with Ben wanting to go his usual scenic route, which by the way there was nothing to look at, just land and sporadic homes along the way, and it usually taking twice as long to get where you want to be. I honestly can't complain that much. It was very relaxing and the kids did wonderful. But as soon as we arrived in Fort Worth Texas, we had a little accident in the middle of afternoon traffic. Did I mention in Fort Worth? The lady in the car in front of us slammed on her brakes because the lady in front of her did the same so we ended up ramming the back end of her left bumper with the right side of our car. Now, if you look at things, who was sitting in the right seat of the car? That would be me. We had a conversation about that later. He said he had to do this so the truck behind us wouldn't ram into our back end turning our car into an accordion.

I still have my doubts but my kids are safe and I'm safe and he is safe and that's all that matters. After we crashed, immediately I turned to look at the kids and they were fine. Ashton had big deer in headlights look like "what just happened?" – and Nicholas is crying because his iPod fell on the floor. Ben immediately got out the car after he checked on us and made sure the other driver and her kids were okay. Thankfully they were. After a few minutes of sitting in the car scared to death that we were going to be rear ended by someone driving on the interstate. My door was crushed together but not enough where i couldn't kick it open and then had to climb a wall into a little area where we sat and waited for the cops for an hour. When I did arrive they were super sweet so helpful!
More than I can say for my insurance company. I called them because I didnt  have my insurance card with me or they'd did email me a copy but the only way I communicated with my agent is through email and then notified me that he had to leave in 15 minutes, here's a number for car rental place that closed at 6 o'clock did I mention it was 5 o'clock at this time and we were still in the middle a small field next to the interstate? He did however call a tow service that pick the car up an hour and a half after the wreck happened that took our car to a shop that our friend Rick knew about. After he dropped the car off he then calle
d us and asked us what to do with the car keys because the place was closed. I told him there was a drop box just leave it in that and they will get a hold of it in the morning. He said okay and I thought that's what he did. When we call the next day we found out he had locked the keys in the car because you couldn't find the drop box. Thank goodness we have a next your set of keys with us. I'm then asked him why he didn't call me back and he said he didn't know. (I'm going to keep the comments about this man  to myself). After we talk to the police and got everything situated the police officers took us to a meeting place to meet our friend Rick.

They called an additional cop car to take two out of the four of us because they can only fit two people in the back of the car. They didn't want us waiting there any longer because it was dangerous with almyths traffic. All in all after all the aggravation of my agents not actually being there for me, waiting on the tow service and the police, I'm just thankful that everybody was safe! Thankful that we had the sweetest police officers that were very helpful, and that my actual insurance was awesome to deal with. I'm trying to find something positive to say about the tow service.
